This is just one of several drawings which I did to illustrate a book entitled The Write Escape by John Griffiths, who is a professional stage actor. For some months before the Covid outbreak, John had been touring with The Mouse Trap. Three blind mice was the theme music. When Lockdown 1 started all theatres were closed abruptly, and the tour finished. John remembers people arriving with their tickets for the evening’s performance, and being given their money back.
Unemployed now John started performing on Facebook. Songs, poetry, glimpses of life in Swansea where he grew up were all followed avidly. People asked him to write these performances down. People said publish and he did.
I was thrilled to be asked to illustrate the book. Bling is my favourite. There are many others.
